The Last Great Victory
On the 4th of July folks celebrate by remembering victories won. The 19th chapter of Revelation celebrates the last great victory humans will ever celebrate called the Lamb’s Wedding Feast. It is celebrated with shouts of “Hallelujah,” alleluia is the Greek spelling, used often in Lutheran hymns. Quite the opposite of self-glorification and the lauding of works done. The multitudes shout “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God. Revelation 19:1
It is true, God is to be praised for the deliverance which only He can accomplish. As Paul says in Romans, For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, IN HOPE that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. Romans 8:19-21
In hope! What promise, what faith the saints have been given that even in the darkest times of their lives, tragic deaths, feeling overcome by the world, ravaged by natural disasters, the visions of heaven will be a reality.
All during His time here on earth Christ courts His bride, the Christian church here on earth by adorning her, making her ready with visions of heaven, the New Jerusalem where the marriage of the Lamb and His bride will become an eternal marriage. Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” Revelation 19:9
