A Minute Meditation on Divine Inspiration

All Scripture is God-breathed [inspired by God] and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17

The word “God-breathed” is used only by the apostle Paul in his letter to young Timothy. It’s the kind of an expression that needs to be understood in the light of the Scriptures from the beginning to the end.  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 The last verse in Revelation reads this way. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. Revelation 22:19

God-breathed means that the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation is an infinitesimal amount of evidence of who God is. It is evidence enough that His Word is able to teach, direct, correct and put us on the path of righteousness that we might enjoy the peace and assurance that our names are recorded in the book of life.

There is another book.  And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.  Revelation 20:13-14
