Truly, Truly
Feel the anguish in these words Jesus often spoke. ‘Truly, truly, I say to you.” Jesus said this to let the world know that He was sent by God because there is no lasting truth in this world. Thus any attempt on our part to declare truth by announcement is a deception.
Truth, by any other name, remains absolute. Tolerance has become the way of our postmodern society and intolerance is not tolerated. Another example is human beings trying to set up criteria of what is right and what is wrong.
Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools.
Romans 1:19-22
What the Apostle Paul is saying here is that righteousness and truthfulness comes from God’s absoluteness. It is for this reason that God is angry. He has made it plainly known to the world through His Word what His righteous and absolute will is for the world. It is never to be found in this world. Therefore, if there is any hope to be found in this world, it must come from God. It was for that reason that so often Jesus said, Truly, truly.
