The Final Outcome
We wait for the outcomes of surgeries, elections, games, applications and relationships. But what happens to us after we die? Is an afterlife a philosophical question we toss around in our minds? I have come to believe that the answer to that lies in what we believe love is. The Apostle Paul tells us that love is the greatest. Now we have Faith, Hope, and Love, these three. But the greatest of these is LOVE.
1 Corinthians 13
So why does Paul say love is the greatest? As a Christian, which I consider myself to be, I have always thought accepting Christ by faith is what justifies me before a righteous God. And I still believe this with all my heart. For when I accept Christ, He becomes my future and the future of all those I love who have accepted Him.
For I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
For the answer to all of our unknowns is to be found in the nature of God whose love reaches out into all of our unknowns and makes them His. So, when someone you love accepts God’s love for him/her in Christ, what Paul says applies to him/her as well as each of us. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Romans 14:8
