Let Him Love You
We have been made in the image of God with amazing minds, emotions, and imaginations. The problem is that these can work against us with thoughts of always having to measure up to something or someone, including ourselves.
Because the God who has made us is a personal God, His love demands nothing of us. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Psalm 100:3
Let Him love you because He will never give up on you, although we will give up on ourselves. Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35, 37-39)
What does it mean to you to live in the Spirit of God’s love? We know who Jesus is as our redeemer and God who is our Creator. But who the Holy Spirit is, is not easily understood. Thanks to a blog by Chelsea Kight, we are given a better understanding of what the Spirit is and does. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:21-22
The Holy Spirit is a person who dwells as a person in us. To let God love you means to let God dwell in you because God alone is love. That means His love leads us. “Where He leads me I will follow.” It was written by Ernest William Blandly an officer in the Salvation Army. In 1890 he lived in a Manhattan New York slum called “Hell’s kitchen” with gangs and low life. The Holy Spirit will radically change our lives because He is the way we experience the love of God within us.
Let Him love you and He will direct your ways. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6 Don’t reject Him when He leads you. None of us could possibly persevere in hope and faith if it were not for the Spirit that dwells in us and leads us. Perseverance does not bring hope. It is the Spirit of hope that dwells in us making it possible for us to endure the trials that bring to us the glories of God.
Allowing God to love us at all times is especially meaningful to my wife and me at this time. We are going through a time of tribulation. These tribulations do not bring us hope. It is the assurance of His love dwelling in us that is keeping us from day to day. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
